Inauguration
Janmashtami is popularly known as Gokulashtami or Krishna Janmashtami, which marks the celebration of birth of the Lord Krishna. It is believed that Lord krishna, the Hindu deity took the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Krishna took birth at midnight on the ashtami, or the 8th day of the Krishnapaksha or dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravan. The celebrations of Janmashtami include fasting, singing, group prayer, preparing, sharing food and visiting temples.
